About Time: You Realised You’re Great Just As You Are – An Evening with Author Amy Jones
July 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Are you a woman? Do you make to-do lists to stop you losing your mind? Have you ever cried in the toilets at work, had a meltdown in the supermarket, or gone off the rails at a hen party? And have you ever been saved from any of the above by your truly brilliant friends?
If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions, come and join Editor-in-Chief of About Time, Angelica Malin, in conversation with Amy Jones, journalist, podcast host, and now author, as they discuss Amy’s new book The To-Do List and Other Debacles.
The To-Do List and Other Debacles is described as “a millennial memoir” of the author’s journey through friendship, marriage and mental health disasters. One particular chapter draws on Jones’s love of to-do lists, which she begins writing as a way to ease her anxiety, but soon spirals into the unattainable. After a bout of therapy, she devised the To-Done list – a way of celebrating what she’s achieved rather than always pushing herself to the limit in a bid to do more – and found that it changed her life.
Amy will be discussing such topics as:
- The concept of the ‘To-Done’ list
- Attempts at self-improvement and the burnout that follows
- How to strive for what you want whilst realising that you’re good enough as you are
